Diablo: At what cost
I am truly disgusted by everything from the players' base up to Blizzard itself. Even the "loyal" D2 fans are rubbish.
Diablo 2 resurrection? More like Diablo 2 distraction.
I'm not sure what's more annoying. The players who want a remake SO VERY QUICKLY. They are willing to buy an entire franchise to get the same game, but prettied up.
Selling out everything a decent sequel might have. A quick fix which cost little or effort to create.
What's the reason they're making D2R? It's because (Activision) knows that it's never going to pay tribute to the creators of diablo the game it was back in the day when we all bought the D2 LoD's expansion kits that came in that fantastic box, and all that enthusiasm and content that was poured into it. It's not a Sequel.
But that doesn't mean they're incapable. They're quite capable. In reality, they'd prefer to sell the franchise as a prank to the young players who have never ever appreciated D2 for its merits, what it achieved and the LONG it's been around. It is sometimes with a greater audience than the latest version.
They are aware of what they're doing. That's why they provide you with D2R, and that's why they upgraded MMW after IW was awash in HATE. They are aware that they can make you feel up and pumped and play you as fools.
And the worst part is that you allow them to! You are Marius.
You'll just ignore this article, but if you do, then give the hype a chance and spend 30-40 bucks for the game, it was easy to make. It's not like they had to start completely from scratch! Sure, they had in order to make it more modern.
A little bit of the real issue? Oh God!.. There isn't a lot of concept art and an extremely vibrant game to base your decisions off of. Your money is not going to a publisher that is passionate about the game. This isn't even an editor who is committed to the game that brought them there.
It will be used by users who have you and abandon you for a fee to advance its own goal of robbing a franchise for the full value. It will let you go in the old game as they continue to serve a totally different audience.
Are you convinced that D4 is anything other than a complete failure? I can assure you this moment, they got more inspiration from their primary opponent, PoE than they did from the original games. The focus is not on preserving the diablo experience, it's about spreading it to as far as feasible.
Then there is the 30-40 dollar price for D2R. This allows them to escape the charges and also save the face of their clients.
Don't be Marius. The world is full of people like these. Make a difference by being a typer.
