Kept people playing arenas

I've never personally been a huge enthusiast of gear being tied to rating. The biggest issue is that it makes pushing arena rating later in the season more difficult. In addition, people are equipped with higher quality gear due to having had higher ratings for over time, resulting in more points for equipment and also having the required ratings to acquire equipment that isn't available until you beat them.

There's always been the "wall" of players who are equipped with more gear than you , and you must overcome, and having rating requirements on gear. You can just make it easier to. I've always believed that If you're on the winning team, you don't need the most powerful gear to achieve the victory.

However, I think the players ought to get compensated when they achieve more impressive ratings, beyond the end of season rewards. This gives players something to aim for during the season, and also an awesome thing to display the achievements you've achieved. Cata had gear that had the similar to the stats, but was it was a different color. Mist also had the cosmetic weapon enchantment. I'd be thrilled that either one of them was added to Wrath or something like it.

With TBCC the decision to change the arena's starting ratings for teams at 0 I believe it was a blunder and, in the end, caused a negative impact on arenas. The effort to make it happen I believe that it caused people to not to participate. It also hurt players more when they chose to skip teams in order to play against other teams. In the end, I don't think it contributed any value to arenas, however it hurt the players.

However, since they're removing team ratings and introducing personal ratings, I have no problem with ratings beginning at zero for Wrath. There are no teams that allow you to interact with other players rather than waiting on teammates to sign up to que. I've even seen a situation where players who play que with strangers at the beginning of the season to boost their ratings by a little from zero.

I've always believed the Mist of Pandaria was the most prestigious arena. The absence of teams and starting with the 0 rating was the thing that Mist did, and it worked. Enchanting players with cosmetics who scored 2200 was an excellent idea. The only thing that was missing was

Mist was a game I really enjoyed and could be beneficial to alternative players or those who came to play later in a season. Was your arena cap increasing for every week you didn't play or cap.

It was a great catch-up mechanic that kept players playing in arenas. This made it less likely to feel like you were from the game if you began the season later. What would a change it affect Wrath areans? I'm not certain, but I would think that it is something worth looking into.
