WoW: Blizzard fixes PvP progress in Classic Fresh

Dec-03-2021 PST Category: WOW Classic

December 2nd, 2021 at 9:03 a.m. by Karsten Scholz - Update: Blizzard has partly solved the problems with the honor calculation in WoW Classic: Season of the Championship. Original: The first two IDs of WoW Classic: Season of the Championship are over and several PvP fans noticed with great surprise that they did not make as much progress on the ladder as Blizzard had promised in advance. Bug, delusion or error, what's going on here?

Update from December 2nd:

Blizzard seems to have fixed the honor calculation for the PvP system of WoW Classic: Season of the Championship with WOW Classic Gold the last server maintenance. At least EU players are now claiming that they received double the number of "ranking points" for the last ID - as was promised by Blizzard in advance (source).

Players from the US region apparently have to wait until the next ID change, as there the ID change took place before the server maintenance. Another potential problem: high-ranking PvP players from the EU claim that the honor decay would also be twice as high as normal. If that's true, Blizzard has a second construction site on its agenda.

By the way, there has not yet been an official update from Kaivax or another Blizzard employee.

Original message from December 1st:

In the first season of the championship of WoW Classic, the clocks tick a little differently than in WoW Classic. The Blizzard developers want to bring a new phase about every two months, so that we will be back in Naxxramas in just under ten months and after a year the nostalgia drops 2.0 will be sucked.

More speed in all corners

In order for casual gamers to be able to achieve their goals by then, adjustments had to be made here and there. Quests will give you 40 percent more experience points in the season of the championship. And for dungeon and elite quests there is even more bonus XP.

In addition, raw materials such as herbs and ore deposits as well as rare materials should be available more often or drop more often. You already get access to the equipment of later Classic phases in phase 1 (for example, because Dire Maul has opened from day 1) and you can rush to the battlefields now (and not just from phase 2) to farm honor.

Is the PvP formula broken?

Speaking of farming honor: The path to PvP rank 14 is one of the most time-consuming grinds in WoW history. But that should also change noticeably for the championship season. The official list of changes states:

We have doubled the maximum for weekly leaderboard progress gained. Dedicated players who reach the top of their realm and faction rankings each week can climb ranks roughly twice as fast as in the original World of Warcraft (buy now $ 14.99).

But after the last ID change, several PvP fans noticed with great surprise that they did not make as much progress on the ladder as Blizzard had promised in advance. You can find evidence of this here and here. Apparently the normal formula from WoW Classic is still active. Blizzard is sometimes even accused of deliberately lying.

Blizzard's reaction

Of course, after this discovery, a post was opened in the official WoW forum. A few hours later the first reaction from Community Manager Kaivax was:

"Hello. We're currently investigating. We're not sure if this is a bug or if we need a hotfix for it, but we'll let you know as soon as we've gotten to the bottom of it."

Kaivax certainly means that the developers do not yet know whether they can fix the problem during live operation or whether they have to Buy WOW Classic TBC Gold restart the server with maintenance work. Either way, we'll keep you posted as soon as there is an update from Blizzard.
